Headings and navigation menus

Hyper Text Mark-up Language (HTML) heading tags are used to convey page structure. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2 tags for subtitles etc.

Navigation menus are marked up as HTML lists. This ensures that the number of links in the list is read out at the start and it can be skipped easily.

Images

Descriptive alt tag attributes are used on all images used in this website.

Colours

The website uses a combination of font and background colour to improve contrast.

The colour combinations meet AA standard as outlined in the W3C guidelines.

You may, if you so wish, override the site's colours by changing your browser settings on your computer.

Stylesheets

This site uses cascading stylesheets for all visual layouts. If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets, the use of structured semantic mark up ensures that the content of each page is still readable and clearly structured.

Tables

All data tables have header cells, to allow screen readers to render them intelligently.

We have, wherever possible avoided using tables for layout purposes.

Forms and fields

All forms fields follow a logical tab sequence to ensure easy navigation.

Javascript

The use of Javascript has been kept to an absolute minimum. Where it is used all pages remain accessible should Javascript be turned off.

Links

All links have been written to make sense when taken out of context.
