Skills for Care and Development

Skills for Care and Development (SfC&D) is the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the social care, children, early years and young people’s workforce in the UK. SSCs are bodies established to focus on the development of the workforce in particular sectors.

Skills for Care and Development was licensed as an SSC in February 2003, and is an Alliance of six national organisations which are:

  • Care Council for Wales
  • Children’s Workforce Development Council (in England)
  • General Social Care Council (in England)
  • Northern Ireland Social Care Council
  • Scottish Social Services Council
  • Skills for Care (covering adult social care in England)

The SfC&D partners are supported in their collective work together by a UK team that is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the collective agenda of the SSC as outlined in the UK operational plan.
