Information and news for Domiciliary Care Managers
Mandatory Registration
Since 28 February 2013, it is mandatory for Domiciliary Care Managers to register with the Care Council for Wales. Registration must be completed by 31 December 2013.
This means that if you are the manager of the provision of care in a domiciliary care agency you are required to register with the Care Council.
A manager of the provision of care in a domiciliary care agency must hold one of the required qualifications in order to apply.
If you are applying to register, renewing your registration, paying fees or updating your details, you can do this online through MyCareCouncil.
Launch of the new Level 5 Professional Frameworks
Care Council for Wales are delighted to announce the launch of new level 5 Professional Frameworks in:
- Advanced Practice in Social Care (including pathways for people working in Adult Care and Children and Young People’s Social Care)
- Leadership in Social Care (including pathways in Management in Adult Care and Care or Children and Young People and Residential Care Management; Adult Care or Children and Young People social care.)
These new Professional Frameworks offer funded training to complete the framework requirements including the Diplomas required or recommended for these level 5 roles and tasks. They offer professional development for level 3 workers and provide opportunities to develop and up skill existing staff to management roles where they have access to activities that will enable them to provide the required evidence of competence.

Subsidised Training Available
‘Learning to Inspire’ is a learning provider providing training through the Welsh Government funded ‘Leadership and Management Wales’ Programme. It provides a series of courses across Wales aimed specifically at the social care sector.
Easy Read Code of Practice
We’ve published a new easy read Code of Practice which is available to download in hard copy format. The Code was developed by VoiceAbility who worked with a learning disabilities easy-read translation team.
Supervising and Appraising Well
The Supervising and Appraising Well booklet has been produced to provide practical guidance, clarity, ideas and examples for everyone responsible for carrying out supervision and appraisal with social care workers.
