Care Council for Wales Conduct Rules
The Care Council for Wales, which govern the conduct process, says (Conduct Rules 2011, Schedule 1, 8(1)) that Conduct Committee hearings should be held in public unless the Conduct Committee decides that there are exceptional circumstances which justify the hearing or part of it being held in private.
Even where a Conduct Committee decides to hear a case in private, the outcome has to be announced in public. The public have a right to attend any part of a hearing that takes place in public. To enable members of the public to attend and observe a hearing, should they wish to do so, the Care Council will publish information in advance of a hearing, including the date, time and venue of the hearing and the name of the registrant concerned.
