Welcome to the Care Council for Wales
The Care Council for Wales is the social care workforce regulator in Wales and we're responsible for promoting and securing high standards across the social services and social care workforce.
£1,500 funding on offer for social workers to develop their practice
The Social Workers’ Educational Trust is encouraging social workers to apply for one of two £1,500 grants for undertaking research into key areas of practice.
Qualified and experienced social workers can apply for either a SWET Research Scholarship, aimed at research projects around inter-professional or multi-agency practice, or an Anne Cummins Memorial Scholarship for a study project on health related social work.

Care Council Welcomes Move Towards New Legislation
The Care Council has welcomed today’s announcement by the Welsh Government that it is to press on with its plans to introduce new social services legislation in the autumn.

In response to feedback from our users, the Care Council's website will be changing in the spring. We want to hear from users what they think of the new look website, so we'd be grateful if you could complete a short questionnaire before the end of February.

Diary Marker: Residential Child Care Conference
The Care Council for Wales, in partnership with Care Forum Wales, is to host a residential child care conference in Cardiff on 26 April.
This national event, the first of its kind, will focus on residential child care in Wales and provide an opportunity to reflect on the distance travelled since the Waterhouse Inquiry in 1999. The conference will underline the positive contribution residential child care makes to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable children and young people in society today.

Deputy Minister pays tribute to achievements of the first 10 years
The Care Council’s work has played a major role in achieving significant progress in social care workforce management and policy in Wales over the past 10 years.
That was the verdict of Deputy Minister for Children and Social Services, Gwenda Thomas AM, in a recent statement about the achievements of the Care Council on its 10th anniversary.
