Information and news for Members of the Public
Since we were established in 2001, we have been committed to putting those who use social care services, as well as unpaid carers, at the heart of our work. They have played a key role in shaping different areas of our work and influencing how the organisation is run. In many ways, the Care Council has been a blueprint for citizen-led regulation.
We are the regulator of the social care profession in Wales. That means we have a duty to safeguard the public by promoting and securing high standards of conduct and practice among social workers and social care workers. We also have the role of workforce planning and developing the professionalism of those who provide services, mainly through qualifications, training and knowledge-sharing.
Code of Practice for Social Care Workers
In particular, you can learn more about the high standards of behaviour you should expect from a social worker or social care worker. These are set out in the Code of Practice for Social Care Workers, which all practitioners have to follow.
