Tribunal Decision on Admonished Social Worker’s Appeal
2 September 2010
A registered social worker admonished for misconduct last February has had an appeal heard by a Care Standards Tribunal in Cardiff.
The Tribunal upheld the finding of misconduct against Deborah Borley by a Care Council Conduct Committee earlier this year but decided to reduce the length of the admonishment from three years to one. Mrs Borley had originally been found guilty of misconduct after giving evidence that was inaccurate or misleading in a child protection case at Cardiff Crown Court.
Admonishment is one of the sanctions available to the Care Council as the social care workforce regulator in Wales. Through its work, the Care Council aims to improve and raise public confidence in the social care services used by around 150,000 people at any one time in Wales.
