The Care Council's stand in the National Eisteddfod Meirion and District was very popular again this year. Over 860 visitors came to the stand during the week, with 500 children taking part in the Care Council’s Launch groupdaily treasure hunt to win an iPod.

Amongst the week’s activities was the launch of the new publication on the importance of language choice in social care, "Dwy Iaith Ddau Ddewis" which was led by Hywel Williams MP.

Rhian Huws Williams, Chief Executive of the Care Council, also spoke on the importance of the Welsh Language in meeting the needs of service users, at the annual Local Authorities lunch which took place on the Thursday. The lunch was attended by a number of Assembly Members, as well as Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, the Assembly’s Presiding Officer.

The Care Council was also very pleased to have the opportunity to work with Doniau Cudd’, a performance group working with adults with learning disabilities, at the Eisteddfod. The result was a

specially commission performance themed on the meaning of ‘care’ which took place on Performance Stage 2, in front of a large crowd on the Maes.

The Care Council look forward to working with similar groups at future Eisteddfods!
