Ageing Well in Wales Conference
28 January 2010 – 28 January 2010

Location: Copthorne Hotel, Cardiff
Organiser: Age Concern Cymru

acclogoblueThis conference is aimed at services providing health promotion activities and information for older people, in the context of the current financial and policy climate in Wales, with a focus on the value of partnership working and peer support. Many of the attendees will be from the health sector and work closely with a wide range of social care staff.

Ruth Geuter, Registrar at Care Council for Wales, will be delivering a presentation on the campaign to raise awareness of the Codes of Practice for Social Care Workers. Social Care Workers work in many different contexts and their Code is about values and how they should work with people. Ruth will be discussing the range of materials available to enable and encourage people to use and promote the Codes as core to all social care workers. As well as introducing the Codes and campaign materials, delegates will also have the opportunity to talk about how we can encourage use and ownership of the Codes and participation in the campaign.

Plenary sessions will also include a presentation by Graham Williams on the Community Services Framework for Older People and Bob Laventure about the opportunities and benefits of physical activity for older people. Workshop sessions will encourage delegates to explore a range of topics including auditing local community resources, delivery of local healthy ageing activities for older people and equalities consideration in health promotion for older people.
