Putting the Mental Capacity Act 2005 into practice
8 July 2010 – 9 July 2010

Location: Venue Cymru, Llandudno / The Marriot Hotel, Cardiff
Organiser: Social Care Institute for Excellence / Learning Disability Wales

It is over two years since the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) came into force. There should now be a good understanding of the principles of the MCA across health and social care services. The challenge now is to make sure that the Act is part of everyday practice.

These free-of-charge conferences will provide an opportunity to learn about examples of good practice that have been developed in both health and social care settings. They will also identify some of the difficulties that have arisen, particularly when best interests decisions are made.

Who should attend?
The conferences are aimed at audiences across the health and social care workforce, particularly managers and other professionals with a lead responsibility for the MCA. This would include registered mangers, social workers with a management role, doctors, nurses and the managers of voluntary organisations.

Please note it will be expected that participants have a good understanding of the MCA including the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
