Social Work Bursary Funding 2012/13

This section provides you with information about the Social Work bursary for new applicants in 2012/13.

In order to be eligible for the bursary, applicants must:

  • ordinarily be resident in Wales
  • be studying on a Social Work Degree or Masters Degree in Wales which has been approved by the Care Council
  • not be receiving a financial incentive to train from an employer

The number of bursaries available for new students starting on a Social Work degree or Masters degree in 2012/13 is 220.

Undergraduate

The funding available to students studying on an undergraduate degree is as follows:

£2,500 non-income assessed bursary per year; and

Practice Learning Opportunity Allowance of £7.50 per practice learning opportunity day.

Postgraduate

The funding available to students studying on a Masters degree is as follows:

£6,640 non-income assessed bursary per year; and

Practice Learning Opportunity Allowance of £7.50 per practice learning opportunity day.

Additional funding that Masters degree students may be able to apply for are as follows:

  • Income assessed Child Care Grant
  • Income Assessed Parents Learning Allowance
  • Income Assessed Dependants Grant
  • Disabled Students Allowance
