Qualifications

The Care Council for Wales works closely with the Welsh Government on the framework of qualifications for the social care workforce indicating the required and recommended qualifications for posts regulated by National Minimum Standards for services, the Children’s Workforce Strategy, the Early Years Workforce Strategy and the Workforce Action Plan to deliver Fulfilled Lives Supportive Communities.

This work is overseen by our Workforce Development Committee and our Qualifications and Standards Sub-Committee.

Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF)

After over 2 years of hard work across the UK the Qualification and Credit Framework qualifications for Health and Social Care and Children’s Care Learning and Development are now available. NVQs will still be recognised as valid qualifications within the social care and early years and childcare sectors.

Qualification Framework

The Qualification Framework for the Social Care Sector in Wales is another strand of the Care Council’s work in supporting the aim of ensuring that children and adults who use social care services are able to rely on a workforce that is properly trained, appropriately qualified and effectively regulated.

The Qualification Framework for the Social Care Sector in Wales sets out the qualifications relevant for, and used by, the sector.

The Qualification Framework for Social Care in Wales is currently being reviewed. There will be an opportunity to contribute to the consultation in the near future. Further information will appear here.
