QCF Children's Care Learning and Development

QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children's Care Learning and Development (Wales and Northern Ireland)

The Qualifications and Credit Framework Level 3 Diploma in Child Care, Learning and Development (CCLD) (Wales and Northern Ireland) is the replacement qualification for NVQ level 3 in Children’s Care and Development.

The Diploma is for use in Wales and Northern Ireland* and learners will be able to register from January 2011.

The Level 3 Diploma in CCLD is for practitioners who work or aim to work in early years and childcare settings.

Diploma Structure

Learners must achieve a minimum of 65 credits to achieve this qualification.

These are made up of 49 credits from Mandatory Group A and a minimum of 16 credits from Optional Group B.

CCLD Structure Diploma Level 3

Learners can complete additional units from the optional group should they so wish.

It will confer occupational competence to work in a supervisory role and can provide progression to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for CCLD.

    Integrated Children’s Centres

Examples of job roles who would undertake the level 3 Diploma include those who are working in a supervisory role, such as:

    Playgroup Leader
    Nursery Practitioner/Manager
    Crèche Practitioner
    Out of School Childcare Practitioner/Manager
    Cylch Meithrin Leader
