QCF Level 5 Diploma in Commissioning, Procurement and Contracting for Care Services
The Level 5 Diploma in Commissioning, Procurement and Contracting for Care Services is the replacement qualification for current vocational provision including NVQ Level 4 in Commissioning, Procurement and Contracting for Care Services.
The Diploma has been developed for use in Wales, Northern Ireland and England. Learners will be able to register from January 2011.
The Level 5 Diploma is for people whose role involves the management of commissioning, procurement and contracting activities for services that provide care or support to children, young people and adults. This will include ensuring that services and self-directed support are available when needed and of high quality.
Diploma Structure
Learners must achieve at least 59 credits to gain the Level 5 Diploma in Commissioning, Procurement and Contracting for Care Services. These are made up of 38 credits from the mandatory units in Group A, one unit (3-6 credits) from the optional units in Group B, one unit (3-7 credits) from the optional units in group C and at least 12 credits from the optional units in Group D*.
*Credits from groups C and D must total at least 18 credits.
It will confer occupational competence and can provide progression to the Level 7 Diploma in Commissioning, Procurement and Contracting for Care Services.
Work settings and job roles
The qualification has been developed for people working in social care commissioning settings. Job roles may include Commissioning and Contracting Managers, which includes those working in joint commissioning contexts.
All units must be assessed in accordance with Skills for Care and Development QCF Assessment Principles and the Regulatory arrangements for the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
