Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) Wales and Northern Ireland
The Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (HSC) (Adults) Wales and Northern Ireland is the replacement qualification for current vocational provision including NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care (HSC).
The Diploma is for use in Wales and Northern Ireland and learners will be able to register from January 2011.
The level 2 Diploma is for practitioners who work or aim to work in a health and social care setting.
Diploma Structure
Learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits to achieve this qualification. These are made up of 24 credits from Mandatory Group A, a minimum of 2 credits and a maximum of 7 credits from the optional units in Group B* and at least 15 credits from the optional units in Group C.
*SS MU 2.1 Introductory Awareness of Sensory Loss is required for social care workers in Wales.
It will confer occupational competence to work within specialised HSC roles and can provide progression to the Level 3 Diploma in HSC (Adult Pathway)
