QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services

(Children and Young Peoples' Advanced Practice) Wales and Northern Ireland

The QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young Peoples’ Advanced Practice) Wales and Northern Ireland is one of the replacement qualification for Health and Social Care (children and young people) level 4.

The Diploma is for use in Wales and Northern Ireland* and learners will be able to register from January 2011.

It will confer occupational competence to work in a senior practitioner or supervisory role and can provide progression to:

Diploma Structure

Learners must achieve a minimum of 80 credits to achieve this qualification. These are made up of 46 credits from Mandatory Group A, a maximum of 6 units from Group B and the remaining units from Group C.

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Advanced Practice) Wales and Northern Ireland is for senior practitioners, deputy managers and assistant managers who work with children and young people in settings or services whose main purpose is children’s care.

The qualification provides an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills that will aid progression to a management role for those practitioners who wish to follow this career pathway.
