QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services

(Children and Young People's Management) Wales

The QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Management) Wales is the replacement qualification for Health and Social Care (children and young people) level 4.

QCF level 5 is equivalent to NQF (NVQ) level 4. This qualification is therefore not set at a higher level than the NVQ being replaced. There will be no expectation for learners holding their NVQ level 4 qualification to complete any additional units or top ups to meet regulatory or registration requirements.

The Diploma is for use in Wales and learners will be able to register from January 2011.

It will confer occupational competence for Managers.

Diploma Structure

Learners must achieve a minimum of 90 credits for this qualification. 58 credits are from group A, a minimum of 12 credits from group B and the remaining 20 from groups B or C.

Is level 5 Diploma in Leadership for HSC Services (children and young people’s management) for me?

The QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Management) Wales is for Managers who work with children and young people in non-residential settings or services whose main purpose is children and young people’s care.

NB: Managers who are working in children and young people’s residential care should undertake the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) Wales which has been developed specifically for them.

Learners who have completed the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young Peoples’ Advanced Practice) Wales and Northern Ireland will only need to complete a number of ‘top up’ units to achieve this qualification.

All units must be assessed in accordance with Skills for Care and Development QCF Assessment Principles and the Regulatory arrangements for the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
