Post Qualifying Training
Once qualified, social workers are expected to maintain and extend their knowledge and skills, and one way of achieving this in by undertaking Care Council approved post qualifying courses.
Consideration had been given in the review of social work training, leading to the degree, to the need to revise the Post Qualifying (PQ) framework and this was completed with the publication of the Rules for the approval of PQ courses in 2007. Courses under this framework began in 2008.
In accordance with these rules, the Care Council for Wales has approved post-qualifying courses at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Wales.
