Appendix 2
Criteria for Supporting Vocationally Related Qualifications
The following criteria will be used in deciding whether to support a vocationally related qualification.
The proposed qualification must:
- meet the needs of the Social Care sector by providing a means for individuals to gain relevant skills, knowledge and values
- show how it will add to the learning support available to the Social Care sector and help individual learners gain the qualifications identified for the sector
- have content clearly mapped to the appropriate National Occupational Standards
- provide a clear and workable link between the Vocationally Related Qualification assessment system and requirements and the evidence gathering and assessment of S/NVQs; (and now QCF qualifications)
- be a proven need from the sector and be developed and piloted in close co-operation with employment and the Care Council for Wales
- have promotional material which is unambiguous, not confused with S/NVQ’s/QCF and Social Work Post Qualifying Awards or be presented as interchangeable with S/NVQ’s/QCF and Social Work Post Qualifying Awards
and
- if there is any agreed credit relationship with another qualification it is clearly stated; with support from the awarding body for that qualification.
