Qualifications required to practice
These are qualifications needed to register as a professional worker with the Care Council for Wales.
Qualifications required by National Minimum Standards (NMS)
These are qualifications required for a service to meet the relevant NMS which are used for service regulation by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CSSIW).

These are the qualifications that the Care Council has agreed, following consultation with the sector, that people should hold as a professional worker in particular roles and service settings.

List of Accepted Qualifications for the Early Years and Childcare Workforce in Wales.
Diploma qualifications for health and social care; early years and childcare; commissioning, procurement and contracting and sensory services
Diploma qualifications on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for health and social care, children’s care, learning and development and commissioning, procurement and contracting were introduced in January 2011 to replace NVQs and a new Sensory Services qualification was launched in April 2012.
