Registered social care workers
When social care workers are required to register with the Care Council it goes some way to recognising their hard work and the importance of what they do on a day to day basis. The Care Council has set out what qualifications are appropriate for different jobs in its Qualification Framework, and there is a process in place to review and update this. It also considers continuous professional development and career development. All this work will lead to an improved status for social care work in Wales.
Currently only the following groups of social care workers have to be registered:
- Residential Child Care Managers
- Residential Child Care Workers
- Adult Care Home Managers
You will find information about who can register and what it will mean as well as information about how to apply to register and fees.
Central to all our work are the Codes of Practice for Social Care Workers and Employers, and all workers, whether they're registered or not, should aim to work to these standards of practice. You will find information about Confidence in Care, our campaign to raise awareness of the Code of Practice for Social Care Workers, and copies of the Codes as well as promotional materials and information about the campaign.
