Registration News – The second in a series of e-factsheets for employers. Could all employers please take a moment to read the latest Registration News, it contains new information relevant to all employers, managers and signatories regarding the development of the registration process.

Residential Child Care Workers - half of the residential child care workers registered on the basis of Induction. You are recorded on the Register as having a ‘training requirement’ attached to your renewal. This means that you need to complete the required NVQ for your post before your renewal becomes due. In many cases you will have been required by the Service Regulations to have already completed your NVQ.

Employers of residential child care workers should note that registrants who have not yet submitted their NVQ certificate must send a copy of the certificate, signed by their manager to the Care council.

There is no need to wait until the time to renew before sending in a copy of your certificate. Once we have received it we will update your registration record to show that the training requirement has been met. If a verified qualification certificate is not received prior to your renewal date, at the latest with your renewal form, then you will not be eligible to renew your registration.

Dates to remember - dates have been announced by the Assembly for registration to become mandatory for adult residential care managers (1st October 2010) and domiciliary care services managers (1st October 2012).
