Guide for workers referred to the Care Council
Who sits on the panel?
The Conduct Committee and the Health Committee consists of three members:
- the Chair, who is a lay member
- one other lay member
- one social care member, who has experience and/or background in social care
A Legal Adviser sits with a Conduct Committee and Health Committee advising them on matters of law. A Medical Adviser will sit with a Health Committee advising them on medical matters.
A Clerk to the Committee will also be present advising the panel on hearing procedure and co-ordinating administrative arrangements.
Only the three panel members make the decisions regarding the case. The Legal Adviser, the Medical Adviser and the Clerk to the Committee do not participate or contribute in the decision making process.
The Legal Adviser will be present when the Committee meet in private to discuss the case, but only to provide legal advice when required.
