Newly Qualified Social Worker

If you are a final year student completing your social work degree and intend to practice in Wales, you must register with the Care Council for Wales as a Newly Qualified Social Worker.

You will shortly be sent a letter from the Care Council inviting you to apply to register as a Newly Qualified Social Worker.

Newly Qualified Social Workers will apply to register by completing an online form available on our website that must then be printed, signed, endorsed and posted to us.

If you are qualifying in a University outside Wales and intend to practice in Wales, you will be able to access the same application form here from June 2010.

Apply online

The online form will include clear instructions on how it should be completed and what you will need to do next. An overview of the whole application process is shown in the Registration Process - Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) document.

Note: If you are self-employed please read the appropriate endorsers for self-employed applicants and registrants guidance notes before completing your application form.

Further information about registration and the role of the Care Council is available in the Information Booklet.
