The Welsh Government’s policy paper, Sustainable Social Services for Wales: A Framework for Action, published last year, stated: “Citizen-focused, sustainable services will not be possible without placing the professional contribution of social workers and social care workers even more at the heart of services.... it is the way in which frontline staff deliver the day-to-day work with citizens that ultimately makes the difference.”
The Care Council has responded by establishing a dedicated work programme with the overall aim of developing a confident and competent social work workforce. Central to this programme is the Continuing Professional Education and Learning (CPEL) framework, which will provide a consistent standard of post-qualifying education and training for all social workers and social work managers in Wales.
You can find out more about these and other related initiatives on these pages.
