Information and news for social workers

Social workers are trained to assess the kind of care needed by individuals. Alongside other professionals and agencies, social workers ensure people receive the right kind of support and care.

They have powers to protect individuals or communities and they help manage the distressing results of things that can happen in people’s lives. They can work with many different groups of people, including children and families, adults, older people and offenders. A social worker must hold a recognised social work qualification.
